This recently renovated cottage is in a block of six lovely cottages which used to house the old stables for the village manor. You will have exclusive use of the cottage for the duration of your stay. The renovation of the cottages has been done with your comfort and enjoyment in mind. You can expect lots of character and luxury finishes with contemporary decoration. There is a Smart TV for cosy nights in, access to WiFi as well as iPod docking speakers. The cottage has two really comfortable bedrooms designed for a peaceful nights sleep - leaving you refreshed and ready for a day of exploring either the local countryside or the historic city of York

The walk to York, through the parks, alongside the river is idyllic and takes approx. 40 minutes. The cottage, set in this quiet and tranquil location is a hidden gem on the outskirts of town. Perfect for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families alike.

The property has a double bed in one of the bedrooms and the other has the flexibility to be set as either a king or twin beds upon request. Please note the bed will be set as a double as standard unless you have specifically requested twin beds.

Parking for 1 car available onsite. Please note the EV charger is a 3 pin version so you would need the correct cable for this.

Comfortable cottage and great location.

Small but comfortable cottage with everything you need. Good location on a gated private estate with easy access to central York. You can hear the sound of the A65 if you have the windows open but not enough to be an issue.

Peaceful Weekend Getaway

A perfect location to be able to easily get into York City and then escape to the peace and quiet of the cottage. A pleasant well presented well equipped little cottage perfect for 2 to stay with only a few useful items missing from the kitchen but not a deal breaker. The outdoor seated space was a great addition, weather permitting, but a parasol needed ideally for the table area. Just a couple of areas for improvement, beds compfy but mattresses possibly need replacing soon. Stair posts of banister need deep clean (dirt layer entrained on wood) but otherwise very clean generally with only cobwebs to be excepted in countryside cottage. Excellent customer service both before and after with help to return items accidentally left at the property. Would most certainly recommend for a short stay if like us you don’t want to be in the hustle and bustle of the city but have an escape with easy taxi/bus access to see York Minster, go to Bettys, stroll The Shambles and a meal at The Star Inn the City also recommended.

Very good location, spacious and very cosy and comfortable, instructions were very clear, we liked the little private garden area with the decking, also the beds were very comfy.

Absolutely beautiful! This is such a lovely place to stay. It is really cosy and everything is so comfy! The shower is lovely and the towels were super fluffy! Kitchen is well equipped and was beautifully clean. It’s a walking distance from Bishopthorpe which has lots of lovely little local places and not too far from the centre of York! Will 100% be staying here again.

Weekend stay at Middlethorpe Manor Cottages

Overall we all enjoyed our stay at Middlethorpe Manor Cottages however there are issues which should be brought to the owners attention before clients arrive namely the following: only 3 forks when there are 4 people staying, only 1 tea towel and no kitchen hand towel or kitchen roll paper, and tiny chopping board. Request to keep things clean and tidy is fine but please provide items to make it an easier task. There were no condiments provided either. The distance into York on foot on a warm sunny day is nearer to 1 hour and not as close by as made out but grounds and cottage in lovely tranquil spot.

Middlethorpe Cottage no 6

We have enjoyed our stay in cottage no 6. It's very quiet and well equipped property. Unfortunately we have found that few areas needed better cleaning. Dust on the top of the wardrobe, cobwebs in the top floor bathroom and by the entrance doors, coffe machine hasn't been cleaned properly, mugs badly washed and several cracked. Overall the property has a lovely, homely feeling and we believe the above mentioned discrapencies can be rectified. We would definitely recommend this property and come back as the location was perfect for us.

Nice cottages

Nice cottages, but for the price expect a little bit extra. Filter coffee pot needed to be cleaned, no cafetière and sounds in the roof at night.

Beautiful place, too many spiders for a soft southerner!

This place is so lovely, it looks exactly as it does in the pictures online. Check in is easy, everything perfect there and the response to issues raised with the team was immediate and professional. My only complaint is the cleanliness. Things like the toilet and the rooms were very clean but there were a lot of cobwebs and spiders everywhere!! I’m afraid as a soft southerner I simply could not relax. There were little bugs (really tiny) on all the curtains too and a couple on the pillows, maybe just a symptom of being in the country but as I said I just couldn’t relax. Cobwebs were in every corner, behind things like the toilet and in the little alcoves on the kitchen surfaces. There were also crumbs between the cushions on the sofa. Essentially a playground for daddy long legs and spiders! If you’re cool with that then this place is so beaut but sadly I couldn’t really enjoy it personally! Such a shame.

Cottage hideaway close to York

The setting couldn't have been more tranquil, tucked away cottages off a leafy drive, with our own private outside area. The cottage consisted of a living/dining/kitchen room on the ground floor with a handy downstairs cloakroom, and two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. The furnishings were comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped, aided by a welcome pack of goodies. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a bath with shower over. The only problem we encountered was with an intermittent signal on the television. The location of the cottage was good, only a few minutes from York city centre yet feeling like being out in the countryside. We really enjoyed the stay and would book there again.

This is a really well priced accommodation for single and family business travellers. It has excellent parking and security. Road access is brilliant for both city and bypass. Very quiet and peaceful, loads of storage and nice beds.

We had a very pleasant stay at this wonderful cottage !! It's located a bit out of the city, but if u have a car you can always travel... The staff was very friendly, we had two emergencies, and they addressed it very quickly !!! I think I'd plan another trip to York in summer with my full family, to stay in middlethorpe cottages !!

Nice and relaxing.
Clean, quiet location. Nice and tranquil. The house was warm and clean with good facilities. Much better than staying in a hotel because we were able to cook when we wanted to relax. It felt like a home from home. The kids loved the trees and the novelty of staying in a house.

I wonderful 2 bed in a beautiful setting. It comes with everything you'll need to enjoy your stay and is just 10 minutes outside of York town centre. Lovely and quiet setting on a private road with passcode access. Beautifully finished accommodation - Warm, cosy and very comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Brilliant romantic location for couples.
The location was perfect, just on the outskirts of York, so we were able to drive in (7-10 minute drive) and use one of the many car parks in York if we wanted to travel in. The place is situated behind a gate and then it's literally just on the left. It's impeccable, and will happily house 2 couples if you so desired. For couples, it is a very romantic location, and so quiet. You also get 1 parking space outside the property which was ideal for us.

Beautiful cosy cottage with easy access to York.
An ideal location giving a great balance of peace and quiet in a semi-rural area but with easy access to York. A beautiful, well appointed and very cosy cottage. Well equipped and tastefully decorated. Lots of amenities nearby.

Excellent location, very comfortable and well appointed. However the boiler failed during our visit.

The bathroom was rather cool. Some of the upstairs radiators needed to be bled. The engineer who repaired the boiler said that this was not the first time. Suggests that the heating system needs an overhaul.
