This recently renovated cottage is in a block of six lovely cottages which used to house the old stables for the village manor. You will have exclusive use of the cottage for the duration of your stay. The renovation of the cottages has been done with your comfort and enjoyment in mind. You can expect lots of character and luxury finishes with contemporary decoration. There is a Smart TV for cosy nights in, access to WiFi as well as iPod docking speakers. The cottage has two really comfortable bedrooms designed for a peaceful nights sleep - leaving you refreshed and ready for a day of exploring either the local countryside or the historic city of York
The walk to York, through the parks, alongside the river is idyllic and takes approx. 40 minutes. The cottage, set in this quiet and tranquil location is a hidden gem on the outskirts of town. Perfect for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families alike.

Great place

The place itself is fantastic. Only issue was with kitchen. Some plates, bowls, mugs and pans were not clean. The plates were too big for the dishwasher, which meant they had to be hand washed. Washer/dryers should not be advertised as such, because the dryer simply doesnt dry. An airer would be great as an alternative.
Beautiful location

Beautiful location, lovely cottage, would recommend. However things need addressing - emailed York Stay - had no feedback - so unfortunately I have had to put it on here. On arrival - cottage wasnt ready at 4pm, no long mirror in one of the bedrooms - screws on wall for it, dishwasher didnt clean - so had to wash everything by hand, many cob webs and there was rubbish under the furniture.
Great stay Easter weekend

Middlethorpe Manor was a wonderful place to stay. Very clean and cosy and only a short drive from the York Minster, Jorvik Viking Centre, the Shambles and more. Stays York instructions were very clear about how to get into the property. The property itself was lovely and clean with amenities for adults and kids too. My kids are 4 and 8, but those who may want to stay with a baby or a toddler, they had baby blankets, a booster chair, high chair and a bouncer. I would happily stay at Middlethorpe Manor again and would recommend it to anyone.
Overall a good place to stay

Cosy, comfortable cottage.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Middlethorpe. The beds were comfortable, plenty of hot water and good heating available. A bonus was having an EV charger outside the front door. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped but some basics would have been appreciated e.g. salt, pepper, oil, coffee (there were plenty of tea bags), a grater. More cutlery is needed for 4 guests, also more mugs would be helpful. Toilet brushes in the bathrooms are needed. Both toilets need attention as the water is running constantly. The welcome hamper is a nice touch.
Needs work

The location excellent, but a lot of things need working on (see below) and therefore very expensive for this stay. Wash bowl broken Knives blunt No large saucepan 1 tea towel 1 Bin bag for a tiny bin Dishwasher too small for plates Frying pan bevelled so didnt sit flat on surface Stools were so uncomfortable Hinges in both bedroom windows broken Blind broken in bathroom Bulb under stairs broken And so on ..
Gorgeous cottage

A perfect little getaway

A beautifully presented and fully equipped cottage within walking distance of York city centre. Didn't use the car at all during our stay which was lovely. Middlethorpe village just down the road with some great pubs serving very good food. Stunning surroundings, very tranquil. The cottage has been finished to a very high standard with so much attention to detail. You can see a lot of love went into the renovations and the owners should be very proud of what they have created there. Definitely one to make a return visit to and recommend to others.
