Sandsend - Discovery Cottage

On booking I was asked how we would like the second bedroom I requested twin beds this was not carried through. The cottage itself is beautiful .

This is a well equipped property, with everything you need. The decor and standard of fit is very high, better than we expected. It's in a beautiful secluded loaction - building works were a small inconvenience while we were there but we had been fully pre-advised. When the main hotel is finished I think it will be stunning and I am sure the additional faciliteis will add to the experience. This particular property also has a lovely deck area, well shaded by surrounding trees. It also has a downstairs bedroom with ensuite, ideal for the less mobile. If you are fit and able, walking to Whitby one way and Sandsend the other are on easy countryside and coastal paths, but some steep slopes. Sandsend beach is a delight away from the hustle and bustle of Whitby, with a couple of nice beach side cafes for breakfast and lunch. Everything else you need is in Whitby, plus many local attractions in and around the moors. We had a lovely stay, thank you.

This a new cottage in the grounds of Raithwaite Hall which is being renovated. The cottages are private and remote from the main road, although for the time being you have to drive through what felt like a building site. Parking was tight around the cottages as guests don't use the car park due to builder's equipment. The cottage itself was well equipped and had a lot of technology throughout e.g. good wi-fi, large screen TVs in each room., smart speakers (if you're a fan), and for some reason an Apple Mac! The living area seemed gloomy.

Lovely cottage in a great location. Meals and drinks at the adjacent Raithwaite Hotel were also very good. The only downside to our stay was the boiler pump breaking down on day 2 which left us without heating and hot water for 24 hrs. The Stays York staff were quick to respond but we effectively lost a day of our holiday through having to use alternative facilities and waiting in for the boiler engineer.

The cottage was fantastic. Arrived and very clean tidy and welcoming, although it was far too hot on arrival and took several hours to cool down. There were a few issues with the toilet flush, which broke, but Stays York were quick to reply regarding fixing the problem. Plenty of crockery and glasses which was brilliant when you are entertaining and the facilities were good.

This is a beautiful house that is comfortably furnished and situated in the delightful Raithwaite Estate. We arrived to a lovely little Yorkshire goody bag, filled with yummy treats - which was most welcome! The beds were super comfortable, with lovely bed linen and the place was spotless. Would definitely return again - many thanks!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Discovery cottage. Beautiful accommodation in a great location. Only slight grumble, 1x TV does not work in the down stairs bedroom. When I raised this with Stays York they were aware of this however no solution to fix this was made. This room was used to get ready for my wedding day preparations also which was a little frustrating.

Many thanks for your feedback. Just to highlight that the way the TV's work has no changed. All the TV's work off Apple TV which is very straightforward to use
