Brecks Farm - From what used to be a working farm and livery, Guy and Tracey have converted this much loved family property into a small development of 5 beautiful cottages, with an eye for detail that ensures your every comfort. Having previously been a joiner, Guy has put his skills to great use, including the bed heads in the master bedrooms that have been meticulously made by hand - this can be seen in so many of the finishing touches in these lovely holiday homes.
The Cow Kennels - This lovely single story property can sleep up to 6 people with the addition of a sofa bed in the lounge. The property is a lovely size for either a family holiday or a group of friends, looking to explore everything that both York and the wonderful Yorkshire countryside have to offer. You will have a lovely sized living area, a kitchen that has everything that you will need for holiday treats, two luxurious bedrooms, both of which can be set up as either twin beds or exceptionally comfortable Superking size beds. There are two bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a bath and shower over. If this wasn't enough there is also a lovely outside area that has an outdoor sofa, dining table and chairs and a charcoal barbecue, all for your own private use.
The owners of Brecks Farm have finished these converted properties off beautifully, with the addition of the immaculately kept external areas, plenty of space for parking and the proximity of both the City of York and the Yorkshire countryside, we are sure you will be coming back!
There is a car charging point in each of the 5 cottages at the farm, the points are a 16a designated supply accessible with a standard UK 13a three pin plug.
Guest’s are more than welcome to charge there cars but we ask that they leave in the cottage a contribution towards the cost of the electric used.
Dogs are welcome at a cost of £20 per dog per stay. We would ask that dogs are not left in the property unattended.

Perfect stay

Excellent accommodation - but you need a car

We have stayed at Brecks Farm before, and found the accommodation just as comfortable and well-equipped as previously. It is a lovely quiet place just outside the outer ring road, so convenient for travelling to other places around York and Yorkshire and no parking problems. However, to get to York city, you need to drive in (15 mins plus usual traffic jam), or drive to Rawcliffe Bar Park and Ride (5-10 min drive) and get the free bus. There is a bus outside the farm but it's not very frequent. It is about 5 minutes drive to Clifton Moor retail park where you will find a huge Tesco for all your catering requirements, plus restaurants, home retail chains, bowling alley, cinema. The hosts appear to have thought of everything you might need in equipping the cottages and each one has a delightful garden patio area with barbecue and outdoor furniture. They are set within a lovely rural area overlooking a pond and fields. A beautiful retreat from the hustle and bustle of York city centre. The farm is served by York taxi firms and takeaway/delivery restaurants.
One of the best Self-Catering Cottages we have ever stayed in !!!!

My wife and myself stayed in Cow Kennels Cottage during the first week of September 2023. WE COULDN'T HAVE POSSIBLY MADE A BETTER CHOICE (of where to stay) THAN WE ACTUALLY DID. The cottage (and the other four nearby cottages, around Brecks Farm} was extremely modern, spacious, light, airy, well-thought-out, clean, tidy, and contained every possible comfort and convenience we could have hoped for. The group of five cottages (on Brecks Farm) are in a lovely, rural setting, but also very close to main-roads, very close to a huge Retail Park (for groceries, and most other types of shopping, and places to eat). It is also barely a mile away from one of the PARK & RIDE Bus-Stations, which take you into the centre of York, after only a short Bus Ride. When we originally arrived at the cottage, we were EXTREMELY FORTUNATE to meet Guy (the owner) and some members of his family. Over the following days, we met him again several times, and also got to meet his wife, Tracey, and his two sons, and other extended family. They are all extremely friendly, helpful, and usually close at hand, if anyone needed any information or help during their stay. I would like to think that we could, maybe, call Guy, Tracey (and the rest of the family} "Our Friends". - - - My wife and myself will MOST CERTAINLY be returning to Cow Kennels Cottage, sometime in the near future, for another EXTREMELY ENJOYABLE stay.

Return visit

The cottage provides quality accommodation with furnishings and fittings to a high standard. The rooms are spacious and immaculately presented with the hosts providing everything you might possibly need. The outdoor lawn and patio areas are generous in size with views over the duck pond and access to a lovely walk around the large wildflower meadow. Well placed for visits to York and the surrounding areas, welcoming and friendly hosts, this is the best of the many places we have stayed in over the years.
Ideallic!

We stayed for 4 days with my elderly mum and were really impressed. The property is very well located to explore Yorkshire and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. The bungalow was clean, well-equipped and had a lovely outdoor seating area, it was a real home from home. Guy and his family were friendly and helpful, without being intrusive, and it was lovely to see the owls feeding at dusk.
Fantastic stay

Perfect cottage for a family holiday

What a fantastic cottage! Beautifully decorated with the best kitchen supplies I've ever known in self-catering accommodation. Shame there's no pavement to the bus stop (or the lovely cafe next door), but that didn't stop us exploring. I'm looking forward to the new washing machine "cupboard" soon too. Thanks for everything Guy and Tracey.

A perfect mini break. The property was extremely well equipped and to a very high standard. The rooms were all immaculate and the welcome hamper was a lovely surprise. The owners were more than accommodating with any request. If you’re unsure just book it. You won’t regret it. A lovely peaceful getaway and great for access to York.

I don’t want to share how good this place is - everyone will want to stay here!! What a find!!! I LOVED everything about this property & I can be quite fussy! The location for us was brilliant (we did drive, it may be more difficult for those who don’t drive) the property was immaculate with some really thoughtful finishing touches, without it feeling over the top. Very light living spaces, with plenty of room & you had plenty of privacy which has been cleverly thought out as you are in close proximity to other holiday properties. I loved being within the farm! Plenty of parking, very dog friendly with lots of helpful touches like dog parking, hoses to wash down, dog poo bins! Spotlessly clean, modern, relaxing and homely. I CANNOT wait to come back!!
