43 County House is a beautifully presented second floor, 2 bedroom 2 bathroom duplex apartment offering spacious accommodation over two floors. It has been superbly renovated to a very high standard of decoration and furnishings with great attention to detail. It is very centrally based being just outside the City walls allowing easy and quick access to the Minster (approx. 3 minutes’ walk) and all the City has to offer. It comes with an allocated parking space in secure gated facilities.
Seven day stay in York
20 October 2024
Well equipped and comfortable apartment. Found the television difficult to operate as could not find channel listing. The only real concern we had was with the lift being out of service, we are both 75 and found that 68 stairs was difficult for us to cope with. It made our stay very uncomfortable especially on arrival and departure. This could influence our decision to return in the future, a real shame as we liked the accommodation.
Grotty accommodation
2 September 2024
The accommodation was very grubby and grotty, the towels and bedding was all stained. theflat is on the top floor and the lift did not work for the whole week we were there. Location good but there is lots of other accommodation in a good location with parking of a much higher standard and cheaper to rent or the same price. First time of using Stays York, would never use again
Return visit

I have stayed at County House many times and nothing much has changed. Beautiful building, lovely Minster views and very convenient location. It was very warm while we were there and there was only one fan ( lots of additional heaters though!). The bed linen was 100% polyester - I didn't think it was even possible to get that nowadays - made it very hot and sticky to sleep. Hand towels in bathrooms and kitchen would have been useful. Some more glasses, dishwasher tabs, toilet rolls and teabags would have been welcome. Be
A wonderful city experience

43,County house is a wonderful apartment in a delightful location, very close to a the vibrant city of York. The building itself is splendid a testament to the possibilities of using pre existing buildings in an appealing way. A parking space comes with a designated parking space, which is an excellent advantage enabling great ease in exploring this beautiful historic city.
Stay in centre of York

Fantastic location! Five minutes walking distance into a gate into the city walls and the centre of the old town. Loads of eating and drinking places just minutes away Great for family. For couples it would be a bit more awkward as the second bathroom is downstairs and the upper one is part of the main bedroom. The flats were warm and the block was extremely quiet. Everything you need is there. Our only complaint was that the beds were too soft.

Awesome location with flexible accommodation. A few minutes from the city centre and conveniently located 2 mins from Sainsburys as well. There is a shower room and kitchen diner and lounge on first level and then 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on upper level. Sofa bed in lounge was useful as an extra bed and double and 2 x singles (could be joined for a king) upstairs give options for sleeping arrangements. Everything you need is in there and the welcome pack was a great bonus too. Only things to note are: - car park space is spacious but right under a tree so was affected by bird poo and wasps. - front door to building is heavy and needs 2 hands to open, not ideal when carrying shopping, bags or sleeping kids into building (also worry about not shutting properly from a security perspective). - bin sheds, no key to get back in so make sure you either prop open or have someone else hold the door open for you. All in all we had a great week in York and the accommodation was part of that would highly recommend and would use again when visiting York in the future.

Brilliant place to stay, I would definitely recommend. The location is the highlight, only a few minutes walk to the centre of York and a car parking spot reserved for the apartment. All of the rooms were very spacious and the photos didn’t even do them justice - they were bigger than they appeared in photos.

Lovely Apartment. The property was spacious and central. There was ample space for a group staying to get ready without feeling cramped and the facilities were great. Perfect for our group of 5 ladies. We will be booking again this winter.
September stay in County House
18 September 2021
Overall we were very happy with the property. The location is fantastic being so close to the centre on foot and the secure parking is a real advantage. The property is spacious and has a well equipped kitchen with all the essentials. Having a supermarket just behind the apartments is very useful. The welcome box of goodies was a very nice touch. Things that could be improved by the Stays team are i) the welcome pack is the worst example I have ever seen. Basically it was a plastic folder of loose leaf A4 paper instructions but with lots of handwritten additions and crossings out. Really poor. ii) it would be helpful to indicate the location of the parking space in the instructions emailed to you when you pay your balance. iii) the double mattress needs replacing - it sinks down on the left hand side. iv) the magazines in the cabinet in the lounge are about 7/8 years out of date. I certainly dont expect or want any magazines provided in a self-catering apartment but just adds a general air of neglect that they havent been thrown away! Other things just to note before booking i) the parking space is below a large tree and our car was quite dirty at the end of our 4 night stay. ii) the front door to the apartment building is quite tricky to open with the key provided in the key safe. The other key provided in the apartment itself seems to work better. iii) if staying in summer the bedrooms get quite hot and stuffy overnight even with the velux opened.
